Tiles equipped with the tongue and groove system are end-matched: on their 2 sides a 10 mm wide and deep groove is engraved, and on the other two sides - a protruding tongue which exactly matches the groove. Warco offers tiles with the tongue and groove for thicknesses 30 mm and up.
During the installation the tongue of one tile slides into the groove of the adjoining ones. The rows of tiles should be placed in offset to one another. A cross-joint (the situation when all four corners meet in one place) should be avoided. Such "chequer board" pattern is possible, though not recommended.
Due to thermal expansion the tiles slightly change their size over the years. If assembled correctly, the tongue ensures that that the joint is not open at any point from the surface to the subfloor. Should the area have no edging, polyurethane glue needs to be applied between two outer rows of tiles. This will hold the grid together and prevent tiles from moving.
TA surface made up of tiles with the tongue and groove system has a classical, traditional design.
